Fine Artist (Bogota, Colombia)

1 month Residence divided between time spent in San Pancho, Nayarit (3 weeks) and Mexico City (1 week):

Collaborated with EAIOU and entrEAmigos community center to develop pieces for Globos de Cantoya, tercer intento (Cantoya balloons, third attempt), consisting of 6 sessions, 5 hours each for 15 children. 

Lunada de vuelo de los globos de Cantoya in El vuelo de la Ballena (The flight of the Whale) was a community activity that included participating children, family and community members.

Developed master-class for Bachelor students of the Visual Arts for Photographic Expression program at the University Center of the Coast, University of Guadalajara.

Participants: 100 students

 

Snyder compiled visual, graphic, and experiential research on the Humpback Whale as part of their work around tensions over weight and lightness, bodies in suspension, and the seriousness of things.  Boat tours to spot humpback whales and visits to the town of San Blas, Nayarit, began as part of the investigation on the pilgrimage of the Huichola community.

Research was compiled from visits to local artists’, Daniel Stone and David Brik, studios, and visits to the Museum of Anthropology for continuity on Huichola cosmology research, as well as the MACO Zone and galleries within Mexico City.
